AbstractThe Telescope Array Surface Detector (TASD) is a ground-based surface detector primarily designed to observe Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays (UHECR). It consists of 507 scintillator detectors (SDs), each SDs unit comprises an upper and lower scintillator 3-m2planes, placing 1.2 km away from each other. With an area of 700 km2, located in the southwestern desert of the State of Utah, the TASD is the largest UHECR detector in the Northern Hemisphere. From 2008, the TASD has detected several Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGFs) which are energetic gamma-ray bursts produced during thunderstorm. Later on, other lightning detectors were also installed at the TASD site to study these events such as the Lightning Mapping Array (LMA), Fast electric field change Sensor Antenna (FA), high-resolution Interferometer (INFT) and a high-speed camera Phantom v2012. Thanks to these facilities, lightning research at TASD had considerable contributions in the understanding of TGFs formation. However, there is still a need to study the quantification on these emissions such as chemical components, temperature, electron density, pressure, ...etc. To continue these studies, we installed a split-less spectroscopic system at the TASD. The system includes a high-speed camera, Phantom v711, and a grism placed in front of the camera. The grism can diverse light from 600 nm to 1050 nm. These split-less spectra will be recorded simultaneously with the recording from Lightning Mapping Array, high-resolution Interferometer, Fast Antenna and another high-speed camera. This could be the first time lightning spectra studied in conjunction with the changing of their luminosity, energy deposit, and peak current.
